New Portable Product SafeNav™ powered by Garmin™

SafeNavGarmin is proud to announce the availability of a stand-alone GPS based system, designed specifically to help airport Ground Support Equipment (GSE) avoid accidental runway incursions at more than 950 US airports.

Garmin has partnered with I.D. Systems, Inc.(IDSY), a leader in the asset management industry, to distribute and market SafeNav™ powered by Garmin. IDSY serves a multitude of Fortune 500 companies including American Airlines and Continental Airlines with their own patented wireless asset management system.

SafeNav™ uses Garmin’s SafeTaxi data base to increase situational awareness on the airport operating area and provides visual and audible alarms to prevent inadvertent runway incursions. This unique alarming system uses risk-weighted color coding and geo-fencing techniques which enable the operator to determine not only the location of runways, but also their current positions’ real-time proximity to the runway or other restricted areas on the airport operating area.

This product is not designed for use in an aircraft, but rather for airport management, airport authorities, governmental, and corporate interests who operate fleets of vehicles supporting the various airport vehicular movements required for efficient and safe operations.
